In Matthew's Gospel we have come through the end of chapter 4. Matthew has introduced Jesus as the Messiah, the King of Israel, descended from King David. Jesus is also the fulfillment of Israel, the one and only person who is faithful to God as the people of God should be.
In , we found Jesus, the King of God's kingdom, announcing and demonstrating that the kingdom of heaven has arrived. The next three chapters of Matthew are commonly called the Sermon on the Mount. Please read and re-read , and pray that God will bless us all to understand Jesus' teaching and commit ourselves to obeying him.
