I was watching the news the other day, and my heart just bled for the poor baby that was beaten to death, back in 2004. Apparently, not by the father in the end, who has come up ‘not guilty’. If it wasn’t him, then who? There is some one out there that did do it.
It then made me angry thinking of the possibility of this innocent baby, and someone getting away with it. What did he do to deserve such brutal beatings, head fracture, dislocated arms and so on. “Some one has to pay!” (you could possibly think)”The shedding of innocent blood!”
This brings to mind that God has instructed us to not be vengeful. says “It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them” (NIV).
And then there is … "Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath … If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” ( NIV)
I don’t know about you, but for me, that makes moments of brief, revengeful thoughts obsolete quite quickly! Praise the Lord, he is so good, ‘cause He has it all under control.
